Young TS Needs Advice...

Posted by Teen TS on June 13, 1997 at 22:59:46:

Okay... For starters, I am 13 years old. I have known I was TS for about 3 years, and suspected something was wrong for at least 6. I am now coming to terms with this. However, I feel a SERIOUS need to tell my parents. The reasons for this are many, including:

1. If I'm going to get help, I can't do it alone at this age.

2. I love them deeply, and we have a relationship founded on unconditional love.

3. I don't think it is fair to either them or myself to withold such an integral part of my soul.

You get the idea. So, I plan to tell them. In retrospect, they may see huge clues, like the hair that was left in the bathtub when I shaved my legs (blamed it on the dog), or the polaroid photos I took of myself in my mother's clothes, which I accidentally left in my parents bedroom.

I don't think I have that much to worry about: They are fairly liberal, not terribly "devout"; though they are somewhat religious, they don't show the homophobia and condemnation of other lifestyles that most religions seem to produce.

Of course, I'm not athletic at all, and my body actually is somewhat feminine. Now, the reason I ramble like this is simply because I would dearly appreciate any advice from anyone more experienced than myself. (I guess I still hold on to dreams of transitioning young, though I have heard many success stories on the subject. Some people have started hormones as young as 16 and had fantastic results.)

So anyway, please respond to my little "life story" with any advice you may have.

Thanks,

Katherine
